Memorial Prayer Garden

“What an appealing image to think of my soul as a garden…and imagine that the Lord is taking a walk in it.” – St. Teresa of Avila (1515–1582)

The Saint Paul of the Cross Prayer GardenIn 2016, The Saint Paul of the Cross Prayer Garden was dedicated to honor the Passionist Community for their ministry here for over 150 years. It was a joyful celebration with many parishioners, former parishioners and those who attended the Monastery School present to celebrate the dedication. Also present representing the Passionist was Father Robert Joerger C.P Provincial of the Passionist and two former pastors, Father Bill Murphy C.P. and Father Gregory Paul C.P. We are also most thankful to the the four Mount Saint Joseph High School students whose hard work and dedication made this garden possible as well as Payne Landscaping.

The St. Paul of the Cross Prayer Garden on the east side of the church consists of a path with more than 300 engraved bricks and a statue of St. Paul of the Cross. Our Memorial Prayer Garden is designed to be:

  • a place of peace, contemplation, and quiet
  • a place to honor and remember our loved ones
  • a sacred place of solitude
  • a place to pray
  • a place of meditation amidst nature’s beauty
