We have exciting news about our parish Faith Formation programming: St. Joseph’s Monastery Parish and Our Lady of Victory Parish are combining Religious Education and Sacrament Prep! This will be the first visible sign of our new merged parish, born out of the Seek the City process this year.
We will have an Informational Meeting for all parents and guardians on Tuesday, September 3, 6:30 PM at Our Lady of Victory Church.
Highlighted Changes in the New Faith Formation Program:
- NEW Location (for SJMP parishioners) – effective immediately, all Faith Formation classes and meetings will take place at Our Lady of Victory.
- NEW Time – Sunday morning class schedule will be 8:45 – 10:15 AM. This gives our students more time to learn, and ensures families plenty of time to go to mass afterwards at the Monastery (11:00 AM) or OLV (10:30 AM).
- NEW Program Model/Curriculum – see the attached details for all of our updated programs for children and youth. Sunday morning classes will include Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for children Pre-K through 6th grade, and a youth ministry style of learning for middle school students in 7th & 8th grades.
- NEW Option for Family Ministry – as an alternative to the “Sunday School” schedule for Religious Ed, the Family Ministry Religious Ed @ Home program offers the option for parents to teach at home and connect with other families on a monthly basis.
- NEW Models of Sacrament Prep – First Eucharist and Reconciliation prep will be taught in the CGS Atriums; and Confirmation Prep will take place separately during monthly Sunday evening sessions.
- NEW Tuition Prices – with our updated programs, we have adjusted the payment pricing to cover the costs of materials, etc. Register BEFORE SEPT. 8 for an Early Enrollment Discount! Any family who has financial hardship may contact Cassandra Palmer to request financial aid.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (ages 3-12)
CGS embraces a Montessori style of learning: hands-on, experiential, and appealing to the personal interest of each child. The space used for the CGS community is called the Atrium, and each class time involves a small part dedicated to the catechist’s presentation, and the majority of the time is reserved for the personal work of the child.
Atrium Level 1: ages 3-6 (pre-K through K)
Atrium Level 2: ages 6-9 (1st-3rd grades)
Atrium Level 3: ages 9-12 (4th-6th grades)
Middle School Religious Ed (Grades 7-8)
Middle School Religious Ed (MSRE) is all about forming a community of young disciples, learning and growing in their relationship with the Lord. MSRE uses the Pflaum Gospel Weekly curriculum and Ascension Press’ Encounter Bible Timeline for Middle School to guide our lessons and activities, basing lessons on the Lectionary and Gospel messages of each week.
Family Ministry: Religious Ed @ Home (Grades K-8)
For families who wish to engage in faith formation at home and build community with other Catholic families (or, who aren’t able to commit to the weekly Sunday class schedule), we offer Family Ministry Religious Ed @ Home.
Give your family the gift of meaningful time together! This program will provide Gospel Weekly resources for each child in the family, for study and reflection at home. Once per month, participating families will gather to share a lesson and mini-retreat together. Through faith-sharing at home and in community, your children will learn that our Catholic faith is something lived out every day of the week! Family Ministry Religious Ed @ Home will gather at OLV on the Third Fridays of October-May (except April), 6:30 – 8:00 pm.
Sacramental Prep: In addition to Religious Ed, our church provides preparation classes for students receiving special sacraments this year.
*First Reconciliation (Penance) and First Eucharist (Communion) Preparation process is available to any student in 2nd grade or older in 2024, and takes place during specific Sunday mornings in the Atrium Level 2.
*Confirmation Preparation is available to any student in 8th grade or High School. Separate prep involves time in reflection and prayer, opportunities for community service, a retreat, and meetings which will take place once per month on Sunday evenings.
